November 2012

'Tis the season to be jolly, despite the International Monetary Fund predicting 'sluggish global growth' for the remainder of this year and next.

In its latest World Economic Outlook, the Fund has downgraded Australia's economic growth for next year from 3.5 to 3 per cent. Unemployment is also set to rise but only slightly as mining investment has insulated us from much of the slowdown in Asia.

Our economic outlook is far from rosy but there are a lot of other reasons to be jolly, including a change in Australia's credit laws that will bring greater transparency and stronger consumer protection to credit reporting - see page 3.

Saving money on your next property purchase - another reason to be jolly - is our article on page 2. This article looks at how to use 'negotiation' to put yourself in a strong position when purchasing property.

An article on Christmas trivia wraps up our newsletter for the year.

On the Social Media front, a quick reminder that Cairns Home Loans and Cairns Car Loans are now on Facebook. To keep up to date on a regular basis of what is happening in the market and not to miss any of our competitions, be sure to follow us - links for all our Facebook pages are at the bottom of this Newsletter.

Enjoy the lead-up to the holidays!

Negotiating on Property
We all know people who negotiate deals like they are competing in the final round of a boxing match, others who negotiate by making concessions at every turn. Thankfully there's a middle ground that will get you further than either of the above approaches, especially when it comes to negotiating on property.
